Congratulations to our 2020 Platinum Scholarship Winner, Johan Diaz!

Johan Diaz, of Santa Ana, California, lives with Hemophilia A, a genetic disorder caused by missing or defective factor VIII, a clotting protein. He is a freshman at the University of Southern California majoring in Biomedical Engineering, where he plans to pursue medicine.

I want to become an oncologist/hematologist in order to help people suffering from life-threatening diseases. I want to help others, just like how the doctors treated my mother, who suffered from cancer, and myself.

Johan is a first-generation student who just graduated high school at the top of his class. He was highly involved at his school in music, academics, leadership, and extracurricular activities such as the National Honors Society. Johan is additionally a member of the Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California.

It is an honor to support students like Johan in their educational pursuits. We wish you the best, Johan! We know you’ll do great things.
